Let Peace rule

12/12/15
As promised, I am posting a word for the day written by Pastor Joyce.  She often has words of wisdom that calm any storm.  Tomorrow,  Sunday 12/13/15 I will run my marathon.  I will be running the Dallas Metro PC marathon in Dallas, Texas.  Since the last post my anxiety about the race has gone from worry about whether or not I would make my time, to fear of disappointing those cheering for me, to getting sick the day of my intended race (11/8/15).  What ensued after that was having to extend my training another 5 weeks!

Now one may think this is horrible, but in all honesty it wasn't.  In fact the most awesome part was that in those 5 weeks I found peace.  The belief that I might not even finish disappeared the day we ran our 22 mile training run two weeks after the failed marathon attempt.  Interestingly, the 22 mile run that our group had previously done included an asthma attack and walk/running the last 10 miles.  But this time, I had no issues.  I needed to be anxious for nothing. And more so, I finished and went on to have a very full day with my family. It's funny how we can so easily let our thoughts consume our sense of peace.

Now I have been writing about my running.  But there is so much more to life than running.  In fact running a marathon is nothing compared to some of the things we face in life.  Illness, financial messes, job loss, family difficulties, terror, war, and fill in the blank, are all part of our daily lives.  However, there is a peace that passes understanding.  Pastor Joyce's thought for the day so appropriately speaks to this peace.  And with that I share,  Let Peace Rule.
God Bless!

Let Peace Rule
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4 6-7).

In the midst of every storm, snow, terror, war, gas prices, foreclosures, job loss, or injustice God will make a way.  He sees the end from the beginning and regardless of how things appear He is in complete control.  The assurance that He will carry us through, over or around every circumstance of life is the anchor that holds us steadfast and will give us peace of mind.

Jesus said to let this peace rule in your hearts…and be thankful.  Most of us think too much and thank too little.  When we have peace ruling our hearts in the middle of a crisis the world stands up and takes notice.  This is supernatural, the world can’t give it, can’t take it away and the world can’t comprehend it!

Peace is a choice that we must make; therefore capture negative, unbelieving thoughts that would magnify the problem rather than the promise.  God, our Father knows what we need and He will make a way for you.
